Leos are the easiest Sun signs to pick out of a crowd. They’re the ones in the middle of it, organizing and energizing the rest of the group. The Leonine temperament is naturally vigorous, creative, forceful and enthusiastic. Even if Leo doesn’t end up in an acting career, the Leonine flair for the theatrical will turn everyday events into high drama. Leos are powerful, magnetic people, and they usually have style to burn. Add that to their aptitude for directing others, and you have a perfect leader.
There’s only one problem: Leos are notoriously insensitive to other people. They find it impossible to comprehend that others might disagree with their opinions or oppose their plans. It seems so clear to Leo that his way is best – and indeed, it usually is – but the dictatorial manner in which he gives orders will alienate the very people who will most benefit from them. The tricky part is that Leo is motivated by earnest idealism; he truly believes that his leadership will result in the greater good, and he is often astounded to discover that his subjects would perversely choose to imperil their own welfare in order to oppose him. In short, Leo doesn’t think he’s great, he thinks he’s right.
Warm hearts and hot heads make Leo impetuous lovers. They are generous to their partners and loyal to a fault, and in their regal way, they are masters of seduction, but here too, they must beware of bossiness. Leos can be so domineering – all with the best intentions – that they can smother their loved ones and be so dynamic that they render their partners passive and impassive, which disappoints a Leo mightily. At worst Leonine egotism turns his partner into his audience, reducing the whole personality of the partner into a mirror that reflects his own glory.
The best remedy to this proclivity for power and control is an absorbing and creative job. If Leo’s energy can be diverted into a constructive task, he will expend less time managing his friends’ lives. The busier Leo is, the happier, which can make him a very agreeable employee, although anyone who supervises a Leo should watch his back, Leos are terribly ambitious. When Leo is the employer himself, he can be a great motivator but should guard against his Achilles’ heel – pomposity and insensitivity.
Leonine children are lively, enthusiastic, and confident. Their natural bossiness can make them terrors on the playground, however, and they need to be reminded to listen to their friends. They may also need help in learning to complete tasks, particularly such pedestrian tasks as memorizing the multiplication tables, which are inimical to the Leonine penchant for the grand.
As the Sun, which rules Leo, sits in the centre of the solar system, the heart – the centre of the body – is ruled by Leo.
